Mist Connections is a lived project — shaped by curiosity, family rhythms, and a shared love of nature.
While you’ll meet me on the walks and in the writings, the life behind this work is supported by the people who travel alongside me in everyday life. They sometimes join in the woods, sometimes stay in the background, and always help keep me balanced, grounded, and connected.
This balance — between movement and rest, between listening and leading — is part of what Mist Connections offers to the world.
Misty
Nature guide · Eco-interpreter · Communicator

I’ve always felt more at home in the woods than in a crowd. There’s a kind of language in rustling leaves and river light that makes sense to me — a rhythm I can breathe with. I’ve followed that quiet pull all my life, sometimes without realizing it: through the stories I tell, the paths I walk, and the people and places I choose to root myself near.

I’m a Nature Guide driven by curiosity and a deep interest in how the living world works. My approach to guiding is grounded in observation, interpretation, and a scientific mindset, with a strong focus on relationships, processes, and patterns rather than memorising names. Understanding how natural systems function is what makes nature come alive for me, and I love helping others discover that same sense of clarity and connection.

I tend to see natural elements as neighbors rather than distant objects of study: plants, animals, rocks, and landscapes waiting to be met and understood. My background in communication shapes the way I guide, blending clear explanations with storytelling to make complex ideas accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life.

Mist Connections is where these threads meet. It is both a field journal and a shared space — a place to slow down, observe more closely, and reconnect with the ordinary wonders that surround us. At the heart of this project is the belief that nature is for everyone. My walks are inclusive, adaptable, and family-friendly, designed to meet people where they are and to grow alongside my own learning. What I share reflects my current focus and curiosity, knowing that guiding — like nature itself — is a practice that evolves over time.

Liliana
Mini-Guide & Keeper of Wonder

Lili is Mist Connections’ mini-guide and the reason these walks are designed with families in mind. At eight and a half years old, she naturally moves at nature’s pace—slow enough to notice ants crossing a path, curious enough to turn a caterpillar’s climb from leaf to leaf into a story full of suspense. Through her presence, small details regain their importance.

When she joins the walks (school permitting), Lili models curiosity, empathy, and engagement. She asks questions—especially her favorite one, “Why?”—shares what she knows with enthusiasm, and gently reminds other children of the rules that help everyone explore safely. Her way of learning is active and relational: observing, imagining, wondering out loud.

Lili’s imagination balances the more scientific lens of Mist Connections. Where facts explain processes, her stories invite wonder: ants become football players, insects become heroes in quiet dramas, and fairies or elves might just be nearby. This imaginative layer doesn’t replace knowledge—it deepens attention and emotional connection. Like all young guides, Lili is growing, and her role will evolve.
What remains constant is her ability to slow us down, open our eyes, and remind us that curiosity and wonder belong at every age.
Philippe
Grounding Presence & Critical Counterbalance

Philippe is a regular participant in Mist Connections walks and an essential grounding presence within the group. Curious by nature but easily overwhelmed by an excess of sensory input, he embodies the perspective of those who approach nature with interest, caution, and a strong need for clarity.

With a zero-tolerance policy for unfounded claims or “woo-woo” interpretations, Philippe acts as a quiet quality check. His presence helps ensure that observations remain grounded, explanations stay evidence-based, and imaginative or symbolic elements are clearly framed as such. When enthusiasm risks running ahead of the audience, he brings the focus back to what is accessible, relevant, and meaningful for everyone present.

During walks, Philippe participates fully while also offering practical support—stepping in when Lili or Cosmo need a steady hand, and helping maintain balance within the group. His role is not to lead, but to anchor: to represent the thoughtful, sometimes skeptical participant who values structure, precision, and honesty.
In doing so, Philippe helps keep Mist Connections open to a wider range of people—especially those who want to engage with nature without being overwhelmed, mystified, or talked past. His presence reminds us that curiosity can coexist with restraint, and that wonder does not require abandoning critical thinking.

Cosmo
Canine Companion & Mascot

Cosmo is the four-legged heart of Mist Connections and a gentle guide in her own right. Curious, cuddly, and surprisingly patient, she demonstrates how to move through nature with attentiveness and respect—nose to the ground, senses wide open, and always ready to pause.

On walks, Cosmo helps set the tone: calm, welcoming, and playful. She shows what good behavior in nature looks like, while also reminding participants that exploration doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful. Whether she’s investigating a scent, waiting quietly, or inviting a friendly interaction, she helps people—especially children—feel at ease and included.

Balancing cleverness with a thread of mischief, Cosmo embodies a simple truth at the core of Mist Connections: being present matters. She reminds us that nature can be experienced through the body as much as the mind, and that connection often starts with slowing down and paying attention.
